In a recent Texas government report, the ongoing Operation Lone Star has led to significant numbers of apprehensions and arrests in its mission to curb illegal immigration and smuggling activities. The multi-agency initiative, involving Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and the Texas National Guard, has resulted in over 518,900 illegal immigrant apprehensions and more than 46,300 criminal arrests, which include upwards of 40,200 felony charges.
A stark figure presented amidst these statistics is the seizure of over 521 million lethal doses of fentanyl. According to the statement, this amount is potent enough to kill every individual in not only the United States but also Mexico. The report credits Operation Lone Star with an 85% reduction in illegal crossings into Texas, further asserting that this decline has lessened the number of migrants transported to various sanctuary cities across the country.
Governor Greg Abbott, a staunch critic of the federal administration's border policies, recently took to X, to express his disapproval of Vice President Harris's stance on immigration issues. He accused her of promoting policies that would welcome more illegal immigration into Texas and America, including taxpayer-funded healthcare for illegal immigrants, the abolishment of ICE, and the decriminalization of illegal border crossings.
Operation Lone Star continues to make headlines with various engagements, such as a recent bust by DPS troopers in Starr County and the discovery of 17 illegal immigrants in a narrowly-confined space within a cloned delivery truck. In both instances, individuals involved in the human smuggling operations were arrested and face serious charges. The state-coordinated efforts are ongoing and include night operations employing advanced technology to detect and apprehend individuals crossing the border. The Texas National Guard, playing a critical role in these efforts, recently assisted in the arrests of two suspected drug smugglers, as corroborated by a Texas government release.
The initiative remains a top priority for Texas leadership, who persist in their vow to address what they deem a crisis at the border created by federal policies. As Governor Abbott's office outlines the series of interventions and arrests, they underscore the state's determination to combat transnational crime and protect communities within Texas and beyond its borders.
