Oregon voters can now access the digital version of the Oregon General Election Voters' Pamphlet. The pamphlet, intended to aid military and overseas voters, as well as those who prefer online viewing, is available on the Oregon Secretary of State's website. The printed pamphlet is scheduled to be distributed to all Oregon households no later than the week of October 14, according to the Elections Division.
This critical resource, which arrives ahead of statewide elections, is stacked with information on candidates and ballot measures, allowing voters to make informed decisions at the polls. However, not every candidate has elected to submit a statement for the Voters' Pamphlet, which is a voluntary option. At the top of the ticket, candidates for U.S. President and Vice President include names ranging from Chase Oliver of the Libertarian Party to Kamala D. Harris representing the Democrats.
Secretary Griffin-Valade stressed the importance of the pamphlet as a direct line of communication from candidates to voters. "The Voters’ Pamphlet is a public service to voters and a proud tradition in Oregon," she said. This crucial tradition upholds the democratic process by presenting the case of candidates directly to constituents. Notably, not every candidate chooses to submit a statement, and as Griffin-Valade underscored, "It has no impact on the choices voters have in November," according to a press release.
The forthcoming general election in Oregon promises an interesting mix of presidential candidates, with individuals like Cornel West for the Progressive Party and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for We The People movement. Their statements, along with those from other candidates from across the political spectrum, are now accessible online. Oregonians looking to educate themselves before casting their ballot can peruse these materials at their leisure, as the full list of candidates and their positions are detailed within the released pamphlet.
