Two Pennsylvania and New Jersey brothers have been arrested on charges stemming from their alleged actions during the Capitol breach on January 6, 2021. According to a press release from the Department of Justice, Philip Walker, 52, and David Walker, 49, face multiple felony offenses including robbery, assault, and destruction of property. In addition to the felonies, the men are each charged with seven misdemeanors related to their conduct inside and around the Capitol building during the certification of the 2020 presidential election results.
Federal agents took the brothers into custody at their respective residences. Arrested today, their initial appearances in court will unfold in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania for Philip and in New Jersey for David. The pair, emerged from the footage and identified by the authorities, have been linked to several violent incidents captured on camera that day.
The FBI leveraged video and photographic evidence while working with the Capitol Police and the Metropolitan Police Department in their investigation. As observed in the surveillance footage, Philip Walker bore distinctive clothing—a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and pants, a horizontal quilted pattern jacket, and shoes with a colored toe—while carrying a backpack. Both brothers were allegedly involved in an assault at the top of the East Rotunda stairs, and were later seen engaging in another physical altercation before leaving the building.
Spearheaded by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia in collaboration with the Department of Justice National Security Division's Counterterrorism Section, this case contributes to a larger string of more than 1,504 individuals who have been charged in relation to the Capitol breach. The brothers, having been assigned BOLO numbers 174 and 175, are a part of an extensive FBI investigation still active more than 44 months since the events of January 6. They are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Concerned parties can provide additional tips through the FBI's tip line or website.
