Petaluma Teen Arrested After Alleged Threats to Local High Schools, Police and District Stress Commitment to SafetySource: Google Street View

A 14-year-old Petaluma resident has been taken into custody following alleged threats of violence made towards Casa Grande High School and Petaluma High School. No firearm was found at the minor's home during a search, as confirmed by the Petaluma Police Department.

After becoming aware of a threat of a planned violent act for a Friday afternoon at the schools above, the police managed to quickly and successfully identify and arrest the young suspect without incident. "The suspect was later booked at Juvenile Hall without incident", as noted by the Petaluma Police Department. This follows an initial investigation triggered by reports via the STOP IT application and calls from concerned parents and students about a social media post.

Petaluma Police and the Petaluma City School District have emphasized the gravity with which they treat such threats, regardless of the absence of a credible lead beyond the social media post. In a post-incident move to ensure continual campus safety, additional officers will be deployed across the two schools to quell any further anxiety among students and faculty.
