After a tense search that spanned over 48 hours, the Philadelphia Police Department has announced the safe recovery of Liana Johnson, an 8-year-old girl reported missing from the 15th District. Last seen on the afternoon of September 28, the local community was on high alert, keeping watch for the young girl described as having brown eyes, black hair, a distinctive burn scar on her upper back and a scratch on her forehead.
Amid growing concern for Liana's young age, the police issued a statement appealing to the public for help in ensuring her safe return. Officer Jessica Rodney communicated with the community through the PPD departmental blotter.
The Philadelphia Police Department has not provided additional information regarding Liana's condition at the time she was found, but they expressed their gratitude to those who helped by keeping a watchful eye and ear during the search.
