Phoenix is bracing for a sweltering week ahead. Today's temperatures will soar to a high near 106 degrees, with an easterly wind around 5 mph, according to an extended forecast from the National Weather Service.
The outlook doesn't offer much of a reprieve from the heat overnight, with a low dipping just to around 79. Calm winds will shift eastward, after midnight. As Wednesday rolls in, the mercury is expected to climb even higher, with a high nearing 108 degrees under uninterrupted sunshine. A similar east-southeast wind will continue to stir the air, albeit lightly.
Wednesday night's forecast maintains clear skies with the low settling around 83 degrees. The easy rhythm of the easterly wind will persist through the night. This pattern seems to hold for the remainder of the week, with daytime highs consistently hitting above the 100-degree mark, and night time temperatures comfortably nesting in the low eighties.
Adding to the string of sunny days, Thursday is predicted to mimic the day prior, with a high again near 108 degrees. Southwest breezes are expected to intervene in the afternoon heat, yet the night will clear out and calm down to a low around 81 degrees. Friday heats up a touch more, potentially reaching 109 degrees during the peak of day before giving way to a clear night and a low of 81, as the wind cycles back to a calming east-northeast drift.
With hardly a cloud in sight, Saturday is looking to be the pinnacle of this heat streak, with the thermometer possibly hitting 110 degrees. Despite the presence of a southwest afternoon breeze, the evening temperature will only modestly retreat to around 80 degrees. Sunday and Monday promise more of the same, with 108 degrees expected for the former's daytime high and 106 for the latter's, before both settle into lows hovering near the 79-degree mark beneath clear night skies.
