Bloomfield community is reeling after a 4-month-old baby boy, Micaiah Williams, tragically succumbed to severe injuries this weekend. Pittsburgh police confirmed the devastating outcome on Sunday morning, pointing to a grim escalation in the case against the infant's father. According to WPXI, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office stated the child passed away on Saturday afternoon.
Dire circumstances came to light after Seth Williams, 28, was arrested and charged by Pittsburgh police following an alleged assault that not only injured Micaiah but also his twin siblings, aged 4. However, reports indicate Williams has been charged with aggravated assault now, with additional charges expected, but still, as of now, these have not been filed. In a chilling account, one of the twins reportedly informed law enforcement that their father had not only thrown Micaiah but also one of them, unveiling a harrowing abuse narrative, as per details by WTAE.
The emergency started at the family's apartment on Yew Street. The mother received a worried call from Williams about an incident at home and found the baby with bruises. Despite trying to treat the baby, the condition got worse, leading to a quick trip to West Penn Hospital and then to UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Investigators found that the baby's severe injuries, including four skull fractures and spinal cord damage, couldn't have come from just falling from a bassinet as Williams had claimed.
Amid the ongoing investigation, Williams remains in custody at the Allegheny County Jail, with Pittsburgh Zone 5 officers first responding and Violent Crime Unit detectives assuming the probe into this tragic event.
