As the holiday weekend swings into full gear, the Plano Police Department is ramping up DWI patrols. In a video released by the Plano Texas Police Department, Plano PD's Crime Prevention Unit's Officer Bianez highlighted the perils of drunk driving. He underscored the department's commitment to keeping roads safe by warning, "our officers will be concentrating their efforts on DWI patrols this holiday weekend in an effort to remove impaired drivers on our roadways."
The initiative spelled out in their recent Facebook post, signals a high visibility and enforcement push meant to serve as a deterrent. Because driving under the influence risks lives, the intensified patrols are positioned as a stark reminder for those contemplating steering the wheel after drinking. "If you see a suspected drunk driver, please call 9-1-1 with the information", advised Officer Bianez, ensuring that the community plays a role in road safety during the festivities, as per the Plano Texas Police Department.
Plano PD's announcement comes at a time when public awareness about the dangers of impaired driving is at a high. The choice to drive after consuming alcohol, as Plano PD suggests, is more than just a legal risk. They are hoping that the presence of increased patrols will act as a preventive measure, making would-be offenders think twice before indulging in such perilous behavior.
