A fatal shooting in Southwest Washington DC is currently under investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department. The incident occurred on Sept. 27, around 6:44 p.m. Police received reports of a gunfire on the 1300 block of South Capitol Street, Southwest. Upon arrival, they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite swiftly being transported to a local hospital, he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
In a release posted on MPD's website, the victim was identified as 28-year-old Marc Butler Jr., who reportedly had no fixed address. The search for the perpetrator is ongoing, and the MPD is calling on the community to come forward with any information.
They have also announced a reward of up to $25,000 for tips leading to an arrest and conviction in Butler's murder. "Anyone who has knowledge of this incident should take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099," the MPD statement advises. Alternatively, informants can to text their tips to the Department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411.
