A Pontiac man, Timothy Legard, 50, has been slapped with a slew of felony charges, including first-degree murder and multiple counts of sexual assault and kidnapping, in the aftermath of a gruesome incident that involved the fatal stabbing of his neighbor, and subsequent attacks on the neighbor's wife and daughter. The Oakland County Prosecutor's Office detailed the charges which assert that Legard met with the neighbor, William Allison, 41, early on a Wednesday morning before attacking him, then entered the home where he assaulted Allison’s wife and daughter, as reported by The Detroit News.
According to The Oakland Press, the violent sequence unfolded outside the Allison's Ypsilanti Avenue home, this brutal event has drawn commentary from both Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald and Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard who both described the attack as horrific and expressed a deep commitment to pursuing justice for the victims, Sheriff Bouchard referred to the emotional trauma inflicted on the family as overwhelming and called the incident disgusting on so many levels.
After the attack, police discovered the body of Allison in his driveway, with a fatal chest wound, not far from where they apprehended Legard who was found walking in the vicinity. The prompt police response led to the swift arrest, which followed the harrowing ordeal where the wife and child ran to a neighbor's home to call for emergency assistance.
The community has rallied around the victims, and friends have established a GoFundMe to provide financial support, as the family grapples with the loss of William Allison and the trauma of the assaults. "This was such a senseless loss. I can’t wrap my head around it. I can’t understand what would possess someone to do this, honestly," Rebecca Pearl, a family friend, candidly told ClickOnDetroit in an interview, shedding light on both the emotional impact and the perplexity the atrocious acts have spawned among those close to the Allisons.
