A scare that shook the community of Ramona turned out to be a false alarm yesterday morning. After receiving a worrisome message hinting at a potential shooting threat aimed at Olive Pierce Middle School, swift action was taken by the local law enforcement and school authorities. According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office, the threat surfaced just before the school's start time, around 9 a.m., on September 12th. Deputies descended upon the school at the 1500 block of Hanson Lane mere minutes following the alert.
Administrators enforced a limited lockdown while deputies scoured the campus to protect the school's occupants. Having combed through the school’s nooks and crannies, law enforcement found that the threat didn’t cast a sinister shadow on Olive Pierce Middle School. The threat evaporated, revealing no weapons or indications of immediate danger to students and staff.
Concerned citizens with tips illuminating the incident are encouraged to contact the Ramona Sheriff's Substation at (760) 738-2491. In emergencies, residents are reminded to dial 9-1-1. In matters concerning school safety and potential violence, students are urged to break the silence either with Sheriff’s School Resource Deputies or via the Student Speaking Out Hotline at (888) 580-8477.
