Starting September 20, residents of Ramsey County will have the opportunity to participate in absent voting for the upcoming general election. This early voting option is available to any eligible voter, providing a method to cast their ballot either by mail or in person ahead of Election Day.
In-person absentee voting is offered at the Ramsey County Elections Office, where voters from any location within the county can visit. According to Ramsey County's official announcement, hours and additional information about in-person voting are accessible online. Notably, in a move to accommodate voters from diverse backgrounds, certain in-person voting locations will have Hmong interpreter election judges available, and the sample ballots will be provided in Hmong at mnvotes.org.
From November 1, an expanded list of locations will open for in-person absentee voting. These locations include Arlington Hill Community Center, Frogtown Community Center, and Ramsey County Libraries in both Roseville and Shoreview. Each of these venues will have set hours for voters wanting to cast their ballots early.
For those preferring to vote by mail, Ramsey County has made provisions for voters to apply for a mail ballot via mnvotes.org. Once an application is submitted via email, mail, fax, or in person, a ballot will be sent out along with a pre-paid, pre-addressed envelope for easy return. Voters can then track the status of their absentee ballot using the online ballot tracker provided by the Minnesota Secretary of State.
Moreover, voter registration can be completed online at mnvotes.org until October 15. Beyond this digital option, prospective voters have the liberty to register in person at the aforementioned absentee voting locations or directly at their polling place come Election Day. For in-person registration, however, residents must provide necessary proof of residence which is detailed along with sample ballots on mnvotes.org.
