As the leaves start to turn and the chill begins to creep in, Rice County Public Health is kicking off its annual flu shot campaign. Starting on October 10, local adults can roll up their sleeves and get vaccinated against the seasonal flu at various clinic locations throughout Rice County. The Public Health Department has confirmed that both trivalent and high-dose flu vaccines are on the table and that no prior registration is required. Just remember to bring your health insurance card to the clinic for seamless billing.
For those without insurance, worry not. The county has got your back with free trivalent flu vaccines. While all clinics are welcoming adults looking to protect themselves against the flu, selected locations marked with an asterisk (*) will also cater to children. Rice County is making sure nobody is left behind in this communal health initiative. According to the schedule published on the Rice County website, the clinics to serve both demographics are strategically scattered across the county for broader reach.
The flu clinics are starting strong with two sessions on October 10. The first session runs from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at Buckham West Senior Center in Faribault. Later in the day, from 3:30-5:30 p.m., the HealthFinders Collaborative in Faribault will also open its doors to offer flu shots. Additional scheduled clinics will follow in Nerstrand, Northfield, Lonsdale, and Morristown. Full details can be found on the Rice County Public Health's website, which outlines the full list and timings for all the upcoming flu clinics.
For those unable to attend any of the scheduled clinics, Rice County Public Health has a standing offer. Flu vaccines are available every Tuesday from 1 to 4 p.m. at their office located at 320 NW Third St., Faribault. For further inquiries or information on eligibility guidelines for the free vaccine, interested parties can squarely call Angie at 507-332-6111. This proactive effort by the county is part of a larger attempt to ensure that this flu season, health is a priority and accessible to all who call Rice County home.
