The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) is actively searching for Michael A. Jacobson, an incarcerated individual who went missing from the Male Community Reentry Program (MCRP) in San Diego on September 29. Jacobson, described as 5 feet, 7 inches tall and approximately 175 pounds with hazel eyes and a bald head, failed to return from an approved outing, prompting an emergency count and subsequent manhunt by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation's Office of Correctional Safety and local enforcement.
The CDCR reported that he was last spotted wearing dark jeans, a gray shirt with white lettering, a black baseball cap, and black shoes with white trim. Jacobson was supposed to return to the MCRP facility at a designated time. After confirming his absence, the CDCR and law enforcement were notified to aid in the search for Jacobson, whose disappearance they consider a priority.
Jacobson was serving a sentence from San Diego County, initiated on April 13, 2022, for first-degree burglary as a second striker with an enhancement due to a prior serious felony conviction. Since December 26, 2023, he has been residing in the MCRP, a program designed to help eligible incarcerated men prepare for their return to society by connecting them with essential services, such as help for substance use disorders, mental health care, employment, and housing.
Authorities encourage anyone with information on Jacobson's whereabouts to contact law enforcement directly, call 911, or contact Special Agent Daniel Contreras at (619) 681-4261.
