In the early hours of today, flames tore through multiple businesses unfolding in the 2600 block of South Alum Rock Avenue, a corridor between Interstate 680 and South Capitol Avenue. According to the San José Fire Dept Fire Department, the incident has significantly impacted eight local businesses and resulted in partial road closures, urging residents to steer clear of the ravaged locale.

Fire officials have confirmed no injuries. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. According to the San José Fire Department, the fire broke out around 3:45 a.m.
The emergency response disrupted traffic, leading to the closure of northbound lanes on South Alum Rock Avenue between Capitol Avenue and Alexander Street. Commuters were forced to find alternative routes, highlighting the broader impact of the fire beyond the scorched storefronts.
