Last Saturday, just before 9:30 in the evening, the San Mateo Police were summoned to the Bridgepointe Target after reports of two women engaging in theft came through. According to the San Mateo Police Department, surveillance footage at the store captured the pair hiding items and paying for only a couple of non-concealed products before trying to leave the premises. Officers in attendance managed to detain the women as they exited.
Tammy Boston and Marquilla Coleman Williams admitted to swiping goods worth over $1,600 combined, with plans to sell the items at a San Francisco flea market. Reports confirm that Boston pilfered merchandise valued at $918.40, while Coleman Williams helped herself to items totaling $778.57. It emerged that Coleman Williams, who had decided to involve her three-year-old daughter in the theft, is currently on probation for a similar offense. Her child was later taken into the care of family members.
A subsequent vehicle search for Coleman Williams led to the discovery of drug paraphernalia and illegal pepper spray. Unfortunately, things took a volatile turn when Coleman Williams, who is pregnant, resisted arrest and began to self-harm, resulting in an altercation where she assaulted a paramedic. She required medical clearance due to her condition before being transported to the county jail the next day. Boston had already been booked by then.
Both Boston and Coleman Williams are now facing multiple charges. Boston faces charges including false impersonation, organized retail theft, and conspiracy to commit a crime. Coleman Williams' litany of charges includes battery on a protected person, conspiracy, organized retail theft, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. She has also been charged with attempted homicide of an unborn child.
