A Santa Rosa man was arrested following a series of events that escalated from vandalism to an assault with a deadly weapon. Francisco Javier Palomino Alvarez, 40, was apprehended after reportedly kicking a vehicle, smashing its windows, and leveling a handgun at the owner, instilling an imminent fear for his life, as stated by the Santa Rosa Police Department. This alarming incident occurred last night near Sendero Lane, triggering a quick response from local law enforcement.
The situation deteriorated when Alvarez fled the scene in a lifted white GMC pick-up. Officers spotted the vehicle with Alvarez behind the wheel, performing a traffic stop. He was swiftly detained, and when they searched the truck, police uncovered not only multiple open bottles of alcohol, leading to Alvarez undergoing a DUI investigation, but also two handguns, a Glock 40 with an extended magazine and a 1911 38 caliber, alongside over a hundred rounds of ammunition and numerous pounds of packaged marijuana. It is noteworthy that Alvarez's previous felony conviction unequivocally bans him from firearm and ammunition possession.
Officers' suspicions were further confirmed when they discovered that Alvarez navigated the roads with a suspended license. The severity of Alvarez's misconduct is highlighted by the extensive list of charges he now faces, including assault with a firearm, felony possession of a weapon and ammunition, vandalism with significant damage, and driving under the influence, as revealed through the initial police report.
