Seguin, Texas, a city experiencing a retail renaissance, is preparing for the addition of a significant new shopping complex. The Seguin Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), in collaboration with Collett & Associates and the Alexander Family, announced the development of Seguin Crossing. This project, representing at least $25 million in capital investment, signals a notable expansion of Seguin's commercial landscape with over 135,000 square feet of fresh retail space set to unfold.
The retail roster for Seguin Crossing has been disclosed, as per a statement obtained by Seguin Texas government's official website, including a national sporting goods retailer, Hobby Lobby, Five Below, James Avery, and several other names that will be made public at a later date. Mike Robbe of Collett expressed his enthusiasm for the project, "Seguin is one of the fastest-growing communities in the United States, and its rapid population growth has driven significant demand for more retail options." Acknowledging the bright prospects of the area, national retailers are jumping in eagerly to cater to the market's needs.
Slated to break ground by the end of 2024, Seguin Crossing will inhabit a 14-acre site at the northeast corner of the westbound Interstate 10 Frontage Road and Jay Road. If timing holds firm, the doors of this new shopping haven should open by fall 2025, in anticipation of holiday shoppers. Seguin Mayor Donna Dodgen highlighted the city's intent to augment retail diversity, indicating that "this development reflects our commitment to providing residents and visitors with access to well-known national retailers," according to the City of Seguin.
Seguin's population boom suggests a corresponding retail explosion, where national brands like Chick-fil-A, Ross, and Marshalls have already planted their flags, or intend to. Within the San Antonio metro area, no city has rippled more prominently in terms of growth. Josh Schneuker, Executive Director of the Seguin Economic Development Corporation, told the Seguin Texas government's official website, "The Seguin Crossing development will be the largest new retail project in Seguin in over 30 years, symbolizing the tremendous growth and opportunity our city is experiencing." This ambitious project appears to be a collective triumph of city officials, the SEDC Board of Directors, Guadalupe County Commissioners Court, and the developers.
The SEDC stands at the forefront of this narrative, dedicated to stimulating Seguin's economic health and attracting business ventures that promise jobs and prosperity. With constructions and businesses materializing across its landscape, the Alexander Family, a longstanding contributor to Seguin's growth, finds a new collaborator in Collett & Associates for this particular retail venture. Their joint ambition is to mold Seguin into a hub of commerce and community engagement, as detailed in the announcement on their website.
