Three individuals have been apprehended in connection with a recent armed robbery in Springfield, after being implicated in an incident that involved a firearm with significant ammunition capacity, according to a release by the Springfield Police Department. Following a report of an armed robbery at the intersection of Armory Street and Warwick Street late Saturday night, police officers apprehended two suspects, Ahman Patterson and Angelia Matos, while a third, Keylon Davy-Cook, managed to initially escape.
The incident, which saw two victims allege they had been robbed at gunpoint by the trio, led to a police pursuit where Davy-Cook, in an attempt to flee, discarded a loaded firearm onto a roof along Albany Street, officers eventually retrieved the gun, which was equipped to hold 32 rounds, with the firefighters' assistance. Patterson and Matos were subsequently identified and arrested for their involvement, as mentioned in an official statement from the Springfield Police Department.
Davy-Cook's brief stint on the run ended the following evening when Springfield Police, conducting surveillance as part of their C3 Unit operations, spotted him entering a vehicle on the 1100 block of St. James Avenue. Noticing a defect in the vehicle's license plate light, they swiftly conducted a traffic stop on the 1000 block, where Davy-Cook was ultimately taken into custody. The driver received a citation at the scene.
All three suspects now face serious charges with 18-year-olds Davy-Cook and Patterson, both from Springfield, are facing a slew of firearms-related offenses, including "Firearm-Armed & Masked Robbery" and "Carrying a Firearm without a License," as well as drug charges for Davy-Cook and an assault-related charge for Patterson.
