St. Charles County Parks is going all out this fall, offering a hearty slice of autumnal bliss with activities for everyone. If romping through a corn maze or tossing a disc into the night sounds like fun, take note. According to a recent county announcement, the parks have a full lineup of events through November, and whether you enjoy quaint hayrides or cooking by a fire, there’s something for every fall enthusiast.
Broemmelsiek Park's corn maze is already welcoming visitors daily from 7 a.m. to half an hour past sunset, and it's completely free, transforming a typical walk in the park into a navigational challenge lasting until the end of October. Groups of up to 20 can book Old-Fashioned Hayrides every weekend starting October 4, complete with a cozy campfire after the rustic ride, for a fee of $125 per wagon. Call the Parks Department to reserve.
For a more traditional fall harvest vibe, the Fall Harvest Festival on October 5 at Broemmelsiek Park promises old-time music and crafts, not to mention a corn maze and pumpkins galore. Alternatively, parkgoers can get their camp on at Klondike Park from October 5-6, embracing the great outdoors with activities like paddleboarding and s’mores around the fire for a $20 camping fee. Homeschoolers haven't been forgotten either; come October 9, The Historic Daniel Boone Home offers pumpkin carving with a side of cookies and hot cocoa, while on November 9, artisanal skills are on display with gourd crafting sessions, setting you back a mere $5.
Feeling festive in the sky? The Regional Airport – Smartt Field will drop pumpkins from aircraft during its Open House on October 26, offering a sight to behold and a story to tell. It's one of those events that blends old-school charm with amped-up excitement, as vintage bombers turn pumpkins into high-flying spectacles. Adding some autumnal sweetness, Broemmelsiek Park hosts a caramel apple soirée—because nothing says fall like sticky, customizable apples. Then, sharpen your Disc Golf skills for the Turkey Toss tournament at Indian Camp Creek Park on November 23. There's a turkey on the line as a prize, and registration is just $10 on the day of the event.
Take a break from the digital world and enjoy the rustle of leaves and crackling fires. Call the Parks Department at 636-949-7535 or visit their website for easy booking. Don't miss out on these fall activities while they last, and let us know if the corn maze feels endless or if the hayrides bring back the perfect touch of nostalgia.
