Stockton residents and commuters are advised to prepare for disruptions following a fire in the city. According to a Facebook post from the Stockton Police Department, demolition work prompted by a recent structure fire will lead to road closures in the area.
The affected region encompasses the 600 block of N Center St, where the fire occurred on September 18. Due to safety concerns, the SPD is advising the public that demolition will begin, necessitating the closure of certain streets. Notably, N Center St will be closed southbound from Flora St to Oak St, furthermore, Park St will no longer be accessible westbound from N El Dorado to N Commerce St.
These closures, put in place with barriers for public safety, are set to last for an undetermined period, pending the completion of the demolition process. Residents and motorists are encouraged to seek alternative routes to navigate around the restricted areas. This will likely impact usual traffic patterns, so individuals should plan additional time into their travel schedules.
The Stockton Police Department has not yet provided an estimated timeline for when the demolition will conclude, or when the roads might be expected to reopen. The department encourages the community to stay informed and watch for updates as they are released.
