
In Lodi, an arrest has been made in connection with the structure fire at Pacific Coast Producers, which sent clouds of smoke over the city and summoned a response from multiple fire departments. Lodi Police Department identified 41-year-old Francisco Castillo, a resident of nearby Stockton, as the suspect. According to an update from the City of Lodi - Government's Facebook page, Castillo was taken into custody on the 00 block of S. Stockton Street, his charges include arson, loitering, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
While the motive behind the blaze remains unclear, the suspect has been booked into the San Joaquin County Jail. The fire, which broke out earlier in the day, caused significant property damage though, fortunately, there were no reported injuries. The community's combined effort, as stated in the City of Lodi - Government, ensured "the safest possible outcome" in an unpredictable and potentially devastating situation.
Another fire at the San Joaquin Sulfur facility is still under investigation, and authorities are appealing to the public for any leads.
