
An altercation at South San Francisco High School has left a young student injured and another facing grave charges. According to a report by the South San Francisco Police Department, law enforcement swiftly responded to a reported stabbing on campus that occurred at approximately 12:01 p.m. yesterday. The police investigation into the incident revealed a fight had dramatically escalated, resulting in a 16-year-old student being stabbed. The victim was subsequently transported to a local trauma center with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. KRON4 details that a 14-year-old suspect was located and taken into custody with an attempted murder charge looming overhead.
The South San Francisco Unified School District quickly moved to ensure the safety of students and staff, opting to place the high school on "Secure Campus" status. These measures are to keep all doors locked and restrict entry and exit on campus grounds. The district emphasized that a full lockdown was not invoked as there was no continuing immediate threat to those on the site, according to the South San Francisco Unified School District. Education proceedings continued as scheduled while emergency responders and school personnel worked in tandem to address and investigate the situation.
The South San Francisco Police Department reassured the community that this stabbing was an isolated incident and communicated clearly that there was no broader danger to the public. As per the authorities, school activities were not significantly impacted by the events, and classes were unaffected in their regular scheduling.
