As Austin residents enjoy today's balmy 89 degrees, the National Weather Service predicts a continuation of sunny skies with a persistent north wind of 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. This evening Austinites can expect another clear night with a mild low around 63 degrees, as winds calm towards the evening.
Heading into the weekend, the forecast, as reported by the National Weather Service, appears to stubbornly cling to sunshine with highs steadily climbing, to reach near-flawless football weather by Saturday afternoon. Central Texans can anticipate a high near 92 degrees for Saturday and Sunday. Nights will bring cooler relief, promising comfortable lows in the 60s, although still a notch above the ideal jacket weather.
Moving through the rest of the week, according to KXAN, after the recent cold front, Austin is now catching a break from humidity with "dew points dropping into the 50s" and no chances of rain in the immediate forecast. The start of October also looks to maintain this dry streak, delivering consistent weather patterns that will keep umbrellas firmly shut.
Meanwhile, the region’s attention begins to sharply shift towards the eastern Gulf of Mexico as Hurricane Helene is expected to rapidly intensify over the next 24 hours and aims to reach Category 4 by Thursday evening. Significant concerns are mounting for those along Florida's Big Bend as they brace to potentially greet Helene's full force. Additionally, Tropical Storm Isaac, forming late Wednesday evening, seems to prefer a more solitary path over the Atlantic, posing minimal threat to land or property.
