
Police have apprehended a suspect connected to a recent homicide in Northeast Washington following a fatal shooting incident that rattled the community. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting occurred early in the morning on September 2, when officers found a man with fatal gunshot wounds at the 2800 block of 7th Street, Northeast.
The victim was later identified as Townsend Reginald Sowell, 46, a resident of the same Northeast district where the tragedy struck, despite rapid response from emergency services he was pronounced dead at the scene, creating a stir throughout the neighborhood seeking answers and justice. In a week's efforts, the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force tracked down and arrested Bryant Nelson, a 32-year-old from Temple Hills, Maryland, yesterday.
Nelson now faces charges of First Degree Murder while Armed (Premeditated), as stipulated by a DC Superior Court Arrest Warrant. He was brought to the Homicide Branch, where he is currently in custody.
