Teen Worker Assaulted with Bleach at Union City Burger King; Police Seek SuspectSource: Google Street View

A teenage employee at a Burger King in Union City is recovering after an assailant threw bleach in her face at the drive-thru window. Andrea Alexander, 17, was working her shift at the fast-food restaurant located on Jonesboro Road when a man in a red pickup truck committed the attack on Tuesday night just before 10 p.m., FOX 5 Atlanta reported. "The man came up to the window," said Andrea, "I said, 'Hey, how are you?' I say that to every customer. I told him what his total was. I thought he was reaching to grab money, and when I looked up, next thing I know, he threw bleach in my face."

According to Andrea's account to Channel 2's Candace McCowan, the suspect didn't exhibit any signs of anger before the assault, which has left her traumatized and fearing to return to work. Her mother, LaToya Alexander, has spoken with the restaurant management, confirming that store surveillance captured the attack. "Saw in the video, like, she confirmed the time," LaToya said. "She said she saw the truck, you know, she could see what was going on in the video." Police detectives have since met with the Alexanders to further investigate the incident.

Union City Police Captain Prentice Brooks has emphasized the department's commitment to finding the perpetrator, stating, "We're looking to look at some surveillance," hoping "to locate the perpetrator and get some justice for the young lady." In wake of the attack, Andrea encourages other fast-food workers to be vigilant, acknowledging the profound impact the event has had on her well-being: "It’s just very traumatizing. I don’t want to be left alone. It’s hard," Andrea lamented to FOX 5 Atlanta.

Andrea's experience serves as a stark reminder that customer service positions can unpredictably become dangerous. The identity and motive of the man who doused her with bleach remain unknown, but Union City Police are diligently working alongside Burger King to analyze the surveillance footage. "From what we understand, there was nothing that prompted this customer," Captain Brooks told Channel 2. Burger King has expressed their cooperation with the ongoing police investigation. Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to contact Union City Police.
