Two teenage girls from Victorville have been detained following a reported robbery and assault at the Wrightwood Fine Food Market on Wednesday morning. According to the KTLA, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department responded to the incident after employees flagged down deputies for assistance. The workers alleged that they were confronted with violence from the juveniles when attempting to stop the theft, leading to an assault with a chemical spray and the brandishing of a knife.

The altercation erupted after the girls, ages 14 and 16, were reportedly seen stuffing items into their backpacks at the Wrightwood market. One of the girls is accused of displaying a knife towards an employee, while her accomplice allegedly used a chemical agent against another worker. "One of the juveniles brandished a knife at an employee and the other juvenile sprayed a chemical agent in the employee’s face," the Sheriff’s Department stated.

Diligence on the part of the market's staff enabled a swift response from law enforcement. Based on the descriptions provided by the employees, deputies from the department quickly located the suspects. Nixle reports that the arrest occurred shortly after the incident, with both teenagers being taken into custody and booked at the High Desert Juvenile Detention and Assessment Center.
