The Tempe Police Department has confirmed that a Democratic campaign office, positioned near the intersection of Southern Avenue and Priest Drive in Tempe, was recently targeted by gunfire. As reported by ABC15, officers found evidence of gunfire having struck the building, puncturing both the door and additional windows.
While the motive remains shrouded in ambiguity, law enforcement is currently treating the incident primarily as a property crime. The Mesa Forensic Unit has joined forces to thoroughly investigate the scene. Police encourage anyone with potentially relevant information, or video evidence, to come forward to assist with the case, as per 12 News.
In a statement obtained by ABC15, Sean McEnerney, the Arizona Coordinated Campaign Manager expressed relief that "Overnight, several shots were fired into our Tempe Democratic Party coordinated campaign office. We are grateful to Tempe Police for coming quickly to the scene and are fortunate no one was present or injured." The office was vacant at the time of the shooting, fortuitously averting any physical harm to individuals.
