In a somber development stemming from a violent incident at a Mississippi apartment complex, the Tunica County Sheriff's Office has reported the arrests of three individuals allegedly connected to a fatal shooting. One of the suspects, Jarvis Grant, a 32-year-old from Robinsonville, faces charges of murder and conspiracy, as stated by FOX13 Memphis. Grant's arrest followed two days after the fatal shooting and was taken into custody on September 6.
Accompanying Grant in charges is Tanio Hall, a 30-year-old also from Robinsonville, who was apprehended earlier on September 4, according to information from the Tunica County Sheriff's Office Facebook page. Alongside the murder and conspiracy charges, Hall had existing warrants from Texas, which included a weapon offense and failure to appear. Tavion Crutchfield, a 23-year-old from Louisiana, similarly faces a charge of conspiracy and for acting as an accessory after the fact. Crutchfield's arrest also took place on September 4 and bore outstanding warrants from Louisiana for different offenses.
The tragic sequence of events unfolded on the evening of September 2, around 7:52 p.m., when the Tunica County Sheriff's Office received a distressing 911 call alerting them to a shooting at the Kirby Estates Apartments on Kirby Road, as documented by Darkhorse Press. Responders found Vandarren McCray, aged 38, with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to save him, McCray was pronounced deceased at the scene by Tunica County Coroner Glen Grant.
The Sheriff's Office conducted searches at two residences within the Kirby Estates Apartments and a related vehicle, intensifying their investigation into the killing. The warrants used to take Hall and Crutchfield into custody without incident were served at 4:12 p.m. on September 4 at the apartments. The investigation continues, and the Tunica County Sheriff's Office is urging anyone with information to come forward, offering a reward for tips leading to an arrest.
