A life sentence has been handed down to Travonte House, 32, for the 2019 murder of Derrick Chambers in Charlotte. On April 6, 2019, in what was described as an attempted robbery, Chambers was fatally shot on Barrington Drive, as announced by the district attorney and reported by QC News.
House, who was also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, is to now serve a concurrent sentence of 19-32 months alongside the life sentence. Observers of the trial, which started on September 9 and concluded with a verdict on September 18, witnessed the justice system slowly grind to deliver its conclusive judgement. Charlotte Alerts News provided a narrative that House entered the backdoor of the apartment, subsequently robbing and shooting Derrick Chambers and another individual.
Travonte was apprehended months after the shooting and charged with murder. The case unfolded further with the sentencing, which saw House receiving life without the possibility of parole for first-degree murder.
Regarding the case’s additional defendants, Diyondre Wilson and Keniya Guyton have previously been convicted for their roles in the criminal activities, according to reports by WSOC-TV. Malik Benson, the third co-defendant, still awaits his day in court with pending charges. It's worth noting that the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department was able to rapidly to launch charges against House, which include not only first-degree murder but also attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon.
