A violent incident in Bonney Lake culminated in the deaths of two men yesterday and the hunt is now on for a suspect still at large. The Pierce County Sheriff's Department reported deputies, alongside colleagues from Sumner, Orting, and Bonney Lake Police, responded to a chaotic scene at Rhodes Lake Rd E and Falling Water Blvd E, involving gunshots and a vehicle collision at around 6:52 am.
Upon arrival, officers found a gravely injured man in a white pickup and another male deceased on the ground beside the vehicle. The pursuit of a possible suspect led to apprehension on 193rd Ave E by Orting and Sumner Police, but not before he could attempt to flee the unfolding drama prematurely. The injured man in the pickup truck later succumbed to his injuries after being transported to the hospital.
Meanwhile, a woman believed to be involved was reportedly navigating residential properties and was subsequently located by Bonney Lake and Sumner Police on a trail behind Victor Falls Elementary School. One more suspect, a man, is believed to have fled the scene and is currently sought by deputies.
Investigations into the events leading up to the deaths have uncovered a chase born of theft and violence. "What detectives have been able to gather is the white truck stole a trailer from Prairie Ridge and this gold truck chased them down," according to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department. The pursuit seemingly escalated to an exchange of gunfire, both during the chase and upon its violent conclusion.
The public has been urged to come forward with any pertinent information, directing them to contact the sheriff’s department or anonymously tip through Crime Stoppers via their app, website, or the Sheriff’s app.
