Over the weekend, a quinceañera in Rancho Cordova was disrupted by gunfire, leaving two men injured and another narrowly escaping harm. The shooting happened on Saturday around 11:30 p.m. near Folsom Boulevard and Sunrise Boulevard. According to KCRA, the victims were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and the incident has deeply affected the community.

According to the mother of one of the victims in a statement obtained by CBS Sacramento, her 16-year-old son is now recovering at UC Davis with a fractured leg, inflicted by a bullet. She expressed relief that her son would recover but stressed the urgency to swiftly catch the perpetrator.

Investigators will review surveillance footage to understand what happened during the incident. Sgt. Amar Gandhi from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office reported that one man narrowly escaped injury when a bullet went through his clothing. The manager of Machinist Hall, where the quinceañera was held, told CBS Sacramento that this was an unusual act of violence for the venue. He suggested it might be gang-related because of recent graffiti, but authorities have not confirmed this.

The manager also shared his concerns about the safety of upcoming events at the hall, considering to potentially cancel future bookings despite the loss it would mean for business. The venue, fully booked on weekends for months to come, is faced with the daunting reality that even hiring security may not stop someone determined to carry out violence with a gun. As the community reckons with this sense of insecurity, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office is urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in locating the suspect or suspects responsible for wounding two people at the birthday celebration of a 15-year-old girl, as detailed by both KCRA and CBS Sacramento.
