
A UPS driver suffered an assault while on duty in Pittsburgh's Zone 3 this past weekend. The violent encounter unfolded during a routine delivery when the worker admonished a speeding motorist. According to the Pittsburgh Public Safety blotter, the incident occurred on Dartmore Street shortly after half-past noon on Saturday, September 14.
The delivery driver, who has not been named, reportedly spotted a vehicle speeding and shouted for the driver to slow down. Police state that the assailant, an adult male driving a blue Honda sedan, reacted by getting out of his car and initiating a confrontation with the UPS employee. The dispute then spilled into the street, where, witnesses claimed the suspect began to reach into his vehicle. The driver intervened, shutting the car’s door before the suspect ultimately sped away.
Details provided by the Public Safety blotter noted that the UPS worker sustained injuries to his nose but declined transport to the hospital by emergency medical services. Instead, he reported that his supervisor would be responsible for taking him to get medical attention. The nature of the injuries has not been detailed beyond this.
