In Vallejo, a routine traffic check spiraled into a police chase that culminated with the seizure of illegal substances and an unregistered firearm. The Vallejo Police Department reports that the incident began on Tuesday evening when officers spotted a 2012 Mercedes Benz CLS 550 with a missing front license plate and heavily tinted windows.
Despite the initial compliance to park, the driver, when confronted by the approaching officers, chose to flee the scene, inadvertently starting a chase. During the evasion, a firearm was discarded from the vehicle, which was later retrieved and confirmed to be unregistered by the suspect. According to the Vallejo Police Department's Facebook page, the pursuit ended as the suspect pulled over on Sonoma Boulevard near Florida Street.
Upon the conclusion of a high-risk traffic stop, officers detained the suspect, and a subsequent search of the vehicle yielded two bottles containing Promethazine and Oxycodone pills with the prescription labels removed. Additionally, unsealed marijuana was discovered within a sweep of the car's interior. The suspect, now in custody, faces multiple felony charges, a previously convicted felon found behind the wheel without a legal driver's license to his name.
Following the arrest, the Vallejo Police completed the necessary procedures, towing the suspect's vehicle and securing the evidence collected at the scene. The suspect is currently being held at Solano County Jail.
