A Waltham man, Robert Daigle, aged 48, has been sentenced to a prison term surpassing five years for offenses relating to child pornography, following a federal court ruling in Boston. Daigle received a sentence of 71 months in prison along with a subsequent five years of supervised release, after entering a guilty plea in June 2024 to one count of receipt of child pornography.
The sentencing came after a search of Daigle’s residence on January 11, 2022, led to the seizure of about 10 electronic devices, mostly from his bedroom. During the legal proceedings, it came to light that Daigle had been downloading CSAM over a span of approximately 20 years. On a single device forensic examination revealed that there were around 1,100 child pornography images and approximately 900 videos. Furthermore, a second device contained roughly 380 images.
The announcement of the sentencing was made by Acting United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy; Jodi Cohen, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Boston Division; and Waltham Police Chief Kevin O'Connell, as reported by the Department of Justice. Assistant U.S. Attorney Suzanne Sullivan Jacobus of the Major Crimes Unit is credited with prosecuting the case.
Daigle's case and conviction form part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative created by the Department of Justice in 2006, aiming to protect children from exploitation and abuse. Project Safe Childhood coordinates a network of federal, state, and local resources intended to track, detain and prosecute individuals engaging in child exploitation. It also works to identify and rescue victims, for more information about Project Safe Childhood, please visit their website.
