Marcus Walker, 24, from Washington, D.C., was sentenced to 30 years in prison for murdering Erik King, his ex's new boyfriend. The verdict was delivered by Superior Court Judge Robert Okun. Walker, who was found guilty of second-degree murder while armed, assault with a dangerous weapon, and second-degree cruelty to children, was tried for a 2022 crime. As reported per the U.S. Department of Justice statement.
The crime, stemming from domestic issues, involved Walker being enraged by his ex-girlfriend's relationship with Mr. King. This led to a violent incident where Walker shot King twice after entering the bedroom, while a six-year-old child was also present. The jury's verdict, delivered earlier this May, resulted in Walker's 30-year prison sentence.
Walker’s convictions also include two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, three counts of possession of a firearm during a crime of violence, and possession of a large-capacity ammunition feeding device. After his prison term, he will face a five-year term of supervised release, according to the Department of Justice.
After the sentencing, U.S. Attorney Matthew M. Graves and MPD Chief Pamela Smith praised the hard work of everyone involved, including MPD officers, the U.S. Attorney’s Office staff, victim advocates, and IT specialists
