Oakland County authorities have leveled a series of new charges against a Waterford Township man, Logan Joseph Sutherland, 21 after he was initially accused of sexually abusing four boys. The Detroit News reports that the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office has now charged Sutherland with eight felony counts, including additional counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material and one count of child sexually abusive activity.

Initially arrested on August 27, Sutherland faces allegations of befriending parents to earn trust and ultimately exploit minors. Investigations conducted by Waterford police detectives began after a complaint involving a 10-year-old boy surfaced. According to WWJ Newsradio, the police discovered images and videos of naked boys on Sutherland’s phone during the arrest. Three more victims stepped forward following the indulgence, leading to the new charges.

The suspect has been accused of assaulting minors at multiple locations, including his own home and family entertainment venues such as Zap Zone, Sportway, and SkyZone, a Commerce Township trampoline park. In an attempt to uncover more potential victims, authorities have urged the public to come forward with any relevant information.

Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald commended the courage of the victims who came forward and referred to the cases as among the "most traumatic" her office deals with. "This defendant took advantage of vulnerable children and parents," McDonald said, as per MLive. Her office's Special Victims Unit is dedicated to securing justice for the victims, their families, and the community at large.
