As reported by WCVB, the event occurred on Friday night as the woman was attempting to navigate the crosswalk at the intersection of Route 30 and Old Tavern Road. The time was approximately 6:59 p.m. when the yet-to-be-identified driver struck the woman and fled the scene, leaving her in serious condition.
Emergency services rushed the victim to a hospital in Boston, the extent of her injuries signifying the gravity of the situation. The Wayland Police and Fire chiefs shared, "Investigators believe that a dark sedan may have been involved in the crash and that the sedan may have front-end damage," as obtained by NBC Boston. The Wayland police are not only reaching out but appealing to the public for assistance, they're pleading for witnesses or anyone in possession of possible surveillance footage to come forward.
