The White Settlement Police Department (WSPD) responded to an emergency last Thursday when citizens reported the sound of loud bangs near several schools along S. Cherry Lane and Gibbs Drive. Reports from concerned individuals flooded in around 12:10 pm, with many suggesting that the noises might have been gunshots. According to the White Settlement Police Department, all units, including Patrol, Criminal Investigations Unit, and Police Administration, were promptly dispatched to the vicinity of St. Peter School, Brewer Middle School, and Liberty Elementary.
In their commitment to public safety, the White Settlement Police Department stated that "the department takes any and all threats very seriously." They emphasized that any calls related to the potential risks at schools necessitate an emergency response. The swift action by the WSPD showcased the gravitas of such incidents, especially when they unfold near institutions nurturing our youngest generation. As officers combed the area, however, they began to suspect that the alarming sounds could have been caused by fireworks. Despite their efforts, no definitive evidence of fireworks was uncovered at the scene.
The scare led to a coordinated effort alongside WSISD Police to bolster security in around the educational facilities. In the absence of concrete information, the police pursued every possible precaution to ensure the safety of schoolchildren and staff. "While officers were not able to verify whether fireworks were the causes of the sounds, our team worked closely with WSISD Police to secure the areas around the schools", conveyed the White Settlement Police Department.
