Early Tuesday morning, a blaze erupted in Reservoir Hill, Baltimore, hospitalizing a woman and causing significant damage to at least four homes. According to CBS Baltimore, the fire originated in the 2100 block of Bolton Street near Reservoir Street before 2 a.m., where crews responded to reports of a fire that quickly escalated to a three-alarm situation as flames swiftly spread to adjacent units.
Officials stated the fire spread rapidly, and additional units were called to the scene, where firefighters could rescue two individuals through a window, as BCFD Public Information Officer John Marsh reported. Although no firefighters were injured during the incident, several residents managed to self-evacuate. In contrast, one resident's condition remains undisclosed following their transport to an area hospital.
WBAL-TV detailed the fire's rapid evolution from a single to a three-alarm emergency, citing the involvement of at least four homes along Boston Street affected by the fire that charged along the roofs, displacing multiple families from the different units they called home.
As people deal with the costs of being displaced and injured, the cause of the fire is still unknown. The Office of the Fire Marshal is investigating how and why the fire started, aiming to understand what happened that night when the flames disrupted everything.
