Early this morning, Worcester Police responded to a reported break-in at Fiddler's Green Pub on Temple St. As they swept through the area, officers confirmed a burglary had occurred. While not much is offered in the way of details, according to the Worcester Police Department, the incident happened around 12:50 AM, and subsequent to their investigation, which included video footage, officers pinpointed a suspect.
The surveillance video proof available to the officers depicted a suspect, and it wasn't long after viewing the video that they encountered Lawrence Gaul, 43, of South Buffum St. lounging at the Worcester commons, wearing the same clothes as the suspect from the video. This detail, coupled with already gathered evidence, solidified their suspicions. Upon further probing—keeping in mind that items were indeed stolen from the pub—police arrested Gaul on charges, which included breaking and entering in the nighttime for a felony, vandalism, and larceny under $1,200.
Following the arrest, the police have kept a considerable lid on the details; what's known is that the commercial property's quiet was disrupted and its integrity breached during the dark hours. There's been no word from Fiddler's Green Pub about the financial cost of the crime or how deeply this burglary cuts into the fabric of their daily operations.
