Welcoming fresh faces and seasoned veterans alike, the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office (YCSO) recently added three more lateral transfers to its ranks. On September 10th, a public swearing-in ceremony presided over by Sheriff David Rhodes in Prescott saw the new deputies pledge their commitment to being the guardians of the Constitution and the safety of the community. According to YCSO's news release, this latest batch of recruits joins another trio who were inducted just the week prior.
Among the new additions boasting previous YCSO experience, Jesse Leedham served the office for nearly 11 years before a 2021 departure, and Nickolai Freemyer contributed over two years before moving on in 2014. Sheriff Rhodes, amidst the gathering of family and colleagues, feeling the gravity of their duty, emphasized, "an official ceremony which centers on the deputies' duties to uphold Constitutional rights and to protect the lives of the public they serve." Leedham, whose wife also graced the YCSO with five years of service, will join the Eastern Area Command, while Freemyer is slated for Northern Area Command duties.
On the other hand, Alan Conner offers a wealth of experience coming from a 22-year law enforcement career in Utah, retiring before taking a position with the Police Department in Williams, AZ. Conner's next chapter will now unfold in the Hi-Line area—straddling the jurisdiction between Ash Fork and Seligman—bolstering the Northern Command's presence.
