A tragic incident unfolded on Interstate 4 in Orange County early Tuesday when a 25-year-old woman lost her life in a collision involving a pickup truck. As reported by ClickOrlando, the crash occurred around 12:20 a.m. on the westbound lanes near mile marker 72.
While navigating an active construction lane closure that stemmed from Sand Lake Road, the woman was reported to be driving a Hyundai Elantra, as the Floridan Highway Patrol outlined. While navigating these lanes, her vehicle came upon an unoccupied pickup truck parked and oriented southward on the interstate. After the initial impact with the truck, her vehicle was sent spinning, ultimately colliding with the truck's left side.
The aftermath of the collision was severe. The force of impact partially ejected the woman from her car, and she was declared deceased at the scene, per the FHP's statement. A dire detail emerged from the crash report, revealing that the woman was not wearing a seat belt during the incident.
An ongoing investigation seeks to unravel the sequence of events that led to this fatal encounter. In parallel reporting, a report from WESH indicates that the collision occurred just after midnight near State Road 528, further underscoring the darkened conditions under which the woman navigated the active construction zone.
As investigations proceed, authorities have not yet disclosed additional factors that may have contributed to the collision or the subsequent loss of life. The identity of the woman, while known to officials, has not been released to the public. Updates are expected as the FHP continues its meticulous work, piecing together the trail of events on that fateful stretch of I-4.
