A tragic event occurred in the University City area of Charlotte, where a 27-year-old woman was fatally injured in an automobile accident. According to WBTV, Ashley Diane Davenport died following a collision that took place just after midnight, on Monday.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to the incident on the 1800 block of J N Pease Place. Upon arrival, they discovered Davenport inside a heavily damaged Kia Forte, that, had struck a parked box truck. Despite efforts by Charlotte Fire and Medic, Davenport sustained life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Notably, authorities have indicated that excessive speed is suspected to be a contributing factor of the crash, and it was confirmed that Davenport was not wearing her seatbelt properly at the time of the collision.
Further details from WCNC specify that the vehicle was traveling north when it lost control, meeting its end against the immobile truck.
