Milwaukee's streets were lively yesterday as the 42nd Annual Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon unfolded along the shores of Lake Michigan. The event drew participants from 46 states and 13 countries. "It was nice coming through and a lot of good support," said Sam Craig, the first man to cross the finish line of the half marathon, in a statement obtained by WISN.

The marathon, which began in 1973 as the Wisconsin Mayfair Marathon, has grown into a highly anticipated annual event. Participants prepared for the race with months of rigorous training and strong determination. Runner Noah Kihmm, reflecting on the experience, told FOX 6 Now, "I’ve been thinking about four months from now. It’s felt so nice to cross the finish line." Runners such as Kihmm and half-marathon participants Tara Metcalf and Callie Ryan faced both the beauty and challenges of the course, particularly the Hoan Bridge, which tested the endurance of many marathoners.

For some, the race represented milestones that went beyond the finish line. Bryan Komas, a cancer survivor, ran not only for personal achievement but also to inspire others dealing with the disease. Koma told CBS 58 "I never thought I would be here today, so when this organization came around in my deepest time to bring that hope and inspiration and just to show me there's more purpose to my life, it is absolutely amazing." Komas advocates for support through 'This Time Tomorrow' – an organization dedicated to aiding those battling cancer.
