Delaware State Police are currently investigating a robbery that unfolded outside the Food Lion on Philadelphia Pike in Claymont. The incident, which took place on the evening of October 3, involved three male suspects who targeted a 78-year-old woman as she was returning to her car. According to the information released on the Delaware State Police's official website, the suspects engaged the victim near the cart return area before snatching her purse.
Detailed reports indicate that the incident occurred at approximately 7:52 p.m. The victim tried to enter her vehicle when one suspect forcibly grabbed her purse. A struggle took place, resulting in the contents of the purse spilling onto the ground, allowing one suspect to abscond with the victim’s car key fob.
The three suspects, described as black juvenile males, fled the scene on foot. Two were reported to be wearing dark-colored clothing, and one was wearing a light-colored hoodie. The ongoing investigation has yet to yield any surveillance footage or photographs that can be distributed to aid in their identification.
