The Houston Fire Department has been cast into the throes of an investigation after an early morning blaze consumed approximately 30 vehicles at a West Houston apartment complex's parking structure. The fire, which was initially reported as a singular car fire, quickly escalated to a larger emergency requiring additional firefighting units, as mentioned in a report from Hoodline. Arson investigators are now part of the probing team.
Located at the 2400 block of Yorktown Street, the fire was first reported at 3:47 a.m. yesterday. The incident, which left close to 20 cars ablaze upon firefighter's arrival, lead to the eventual tally nearing 30 vehicles. The Houston Fire Department's Public Information Officer communicated that "Arson investigators will speak with residents, property owners, and any other witnesses as they work to determine what started this fire," according to Houston Fire Dept. Despite the fire's extent, there have been no injuries reported.

The scale of damage inflicted by the inferno was so substantial that the Houston Chronicle reported most of the affected vehicles were burned beyond repair. A spokesperson for the Houston Fire Department relayed to the Houston Chronicle that the fire likely originated from an electrical or mechanical issue in one of the cars, indicating the fire to be accidental rather than intentional.
