In a significant development in the Windsor Hollow shooting case, authorities recovered a gun from Calaveras Lake that may be linked to the incident. Sheriff Javier Salazar announced at a Monday press conference that a loaded semi-automatic assault rifle, believed to be associated with the crime, was found. The shooting resulted in the death of 4-year-old MaryAnn Marble and injuries to four of her family members, according to KSAT.
The operation, a joint effort with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office scuba diving team, succeeded after an initial search in September yielded no results. Last week, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) conducted tests to estimate how far a weapon could be thrown into the water, which helped divers locate the gun buried in mud. This discovery comes after the May shooting at a home on Windsor Hollow, which authorities have described as a targeted attack. MaryAnn was the only fatality among her injured family members, as detailed by KENS5.
As the investigation continues, attention has turned to three individuals already under investigation for a Bexar County auto-theft ring. Authorities have identified 19-year-old Bryan Salazar and 20-year-old Isaiah Perales as suspected gunmen in the home surveillance footage of the shooting, while 18-year-old Ashton Vara Garcia is being sought in connection with the car thefts. Although these individuals are considered persons of interest, Sheriff Salazar has stated that it is too early to label them as suspects and has encouraged them to cooperate with investigators.
In an interesting twist, one of the persons of interest is an amateur rapper who has mentioned disposing of weapons in a body of water in his lyrics. "So it’s interesting if this person does end up being involved ... it sure would be interesting that he was cocky enough to write a song about it, and here we are finding weapons in a body of water,” Sheriff Salazar said, with the firearm now in law enforcement's custody, it will undergo ballistics testing to confirm any connection to the shell casings found at the crime scene, as reported by KSAT.
Complications arise as MaryAnn's father, himself a of victim in the senseless shooting, continues to withhold cooperation from law enforcement. The BCSO pledges persistence, with Sheriff Salazar affirming, "We’re not going to stop until someone faces justice for this," in statements obtained by KENS5.
