A Baltimore man has been handed a lengthy sentence of 75 months in federal prison for possessing a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Larry Benner, 39, will also undergo three years of supervised release after his incarceration. U.S. District Judge Julie R. Rubin handed down the sentencing yesterday.
Monitoring Citiwatch cameras in Baltimore on January 21, 2023, officers from the Baltimore Police Department observed Benner, along with two co-defendants, engaged in what appeared to be drug activity, according to a guilty plea. Arriving on the scene, officers arrested the defendants and seized an array of controlled dangerous substances from Benner, including cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, Alprazolam, and Buprenorphine. Additionally, officers recovered a loaded Smith & Wesson 9mm Luger pistol and an extra drum magazine with 35 live 9mm cartridges.

Barron, leading the prosecution, expressed gratitude to former Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Liane Kozik and Assistant U.S. Attorney James G. O’Donohue III, who saw the federal case through to its conclusion.
