Bass Pro Shops unveiled its newest store on 1771 Spring Stuebner Road, Spring. The grand opening, which commenced on Wednesday, turned into a community spectacle with a variety of events, including the presence of Houston Texans mascot Toro and former players Eric Brown and Travis Johnson. The expansive 125,000-square-foot retail space was reported to buzz with excitement, according to David Gilliam, the store's general manager. "It was just exciting to get to see everybody’s face when they came in," Gilliam told Houston Chronicle.
The latest addition to the Bass Pro family offers a broad range of outdoor apparel and hunting gear alongside features such as a 10,000-gallon aquarium, brimming with nearly 100 fish. This store marks Bass Pro's first venture on Houston's north side, with other locations in Katy, Pearland, and League City, indicating an expanding footprint across the Houston suburbs. "I think Bass Pro has always been interested in the north side, and everything fell into place at this time," Gilliam elaborated, during the interview with the Houston Chronicle. The store's opening also signifies local job growth, contributing over 150 new positions to the area.
Prior to its official opening, Bass Pro Shops highlighted its commitment to local conservation efforts during an "Evening for Conservation," hosted on Wednesday. Throughout this special event, guests were entertained with pro staff appearances, Paw Patrol characters, and live entertainment, while 10% of all purchases went to the outdoor fund to support area organizations. This convergence of commerce and conservation efforts was detailed by the event organizers at Community Impact.
The festivities continued through October 6, with Bass Pro Shops maintaining the celebratory mood through daily giveaways. Customers in the first wave each day, received promotional items ranging from branded trucker hats to signature steak strips. Additional details on the grand opening and ongoing events can be found on the store's official webpage.
